Netball Visit

On Wednesday the Southern Steele Netball team came to visit our school. They gave our netball girls some tips. A school wide competition was held to guess the right number of balloons in the car. Corban-James had the nearest guess and won a goodie bag with a hoodie, ball, pen and other things in it. Lucky boy!

Calendar Art

Forms will be going out for you to order your calendar art for Christmas. Here are the artworks the children have been working on. If you would prefer to use a photo, please look at the order form for details.

Making new friends

Last week we started a new journey in our class with Otumarama. We have partnered with Vicky who runs the Age to Age programme.  This project is a learning experience – in which seniors and the younger generation have opportunities to learn from each other. The aim is to bring together students from a local primary school with residents of a local retirement home.We visited the residents and shared who we were and what we liked, with them. They told us many interesting things as well. We will be going for visits every second week. We all enjoyed our visit and sang beautifully for the residents.

Helping our environment

As a class we went to Tahunanui Beach and helped Nelmac plant many grasses and shrubs to stop erosion of the dunes. We had a great time finding skinks, cleaning up litter and planting various plants. We were very fortunate to have some great mums come and help us. We really appreciate the time they gave up to help us on this outing.

Express yourself!

Term 3 is all about expressing yourself through one of the Arts. We are exploring many kinds of Art forms in our literacy and topic time. Together we have made this amazing piece of visual art and come up with the messages we are sending.

Term 2

Time has flown by and we are already in Term 3. I wanted to share some of the learning we did in Term 2. I am hoping to update the blog each week as we go through this term and keep you posted on our learning.
Our theme in Term 2 was 'Reach for the Stars'. We had many learners achieving brilliance with their great Matariki projects. Enjoy this slide show with photos of what we did.
